Seeing that I have a love affair with all things paper, it wouldn’t surprise you then that I love sending & receiving cards & letters. Yes, the internet has made the art of sending electronic messages easy, free & convenient, especially when in a time crunch, but really is there anything better than opening up the mailbox to pull out an envelope with your name handwritten on it?
So, you can imagine my extreme excitement when I discovered that World Post Day is coming up on Oct. 9th (which marks the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union’s establishment in 1874) & that the Etsy Greetings Team, has issued a challenge called 52 Weeks of Mail. The goal is for people to commit to sending at least one personal note, card, postcard, or letter to people they know, once a week for a year. They have suggested that when you send your card that you enclose a second card with a stamped envelope so that the receiver can become the sender & pay it forward. I am tweaking this challenge somewhat & only sending one card, because my plan/goal is to send out a handmade piece of stationary for half of the challenge & then store-bought cards the rest. So this way, I get to say hello to my friends & family but also get back into creating (something I’ve been lacking in lately).
If you want to join in, you can find the details here & if you want something from me, send me your address. And if I already have your address, you may want to check your mailbox in the near future.

I wrote out a to do list for the weekend and under "correspondences" (because my to do list notepad I got for my birthday has a section for correspondences!) I listed you and one other. So sorry for the delay!
This is fantastic! I am definitely going to read about the details. Speaking of which I would love to do this with you once I get all the rules laid out and whatnot :)
Linda - where did you get your to-do list notepad? I love that it has a section for correspondence.
Abby-Email me your address & I will send you something regardless if you join or not!
I heart getting fun mail :)
Woz-Good thing you're one of my 52! :)
I am in! this is such an awesome idea!
Robin-Yay! I thought you would like it :)
I think I am in as well.
One of my goals for every year is to send at least 10 letters to friends anyway - so why not go for 52?!
This sounds like a grand plan!
